After 30 years in power, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has resigned.

On state-run TV Friday, the day of the biggest-yet anti-government demonstrations, Mubarak’s appointed Vice President Omar Suleiman made the brief announcement of the president’s departure from office.

“In these grave circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave his position as president of the republic,” a grim-looking Suleiman said. “He has mandated the Armed Forces Supreme Council to run the state. God is our protector and succor.”

In a statement several hours after Mubarak’s resignation, a military spokesman praised Mubarak’s service to Egypt through peace and war, and said the Armed Forces Supreme Council is studying the situation and will announce its plans shortly. The military will allegedly at some point announce the dissolution of the parliament and the Shura council, essentially sacking the entire government, reports broadcaster Al-Arabiya.

“Ha?, Bakit?

“Nagkasagutan kami ni boss, nainis, ayaw na raw nya sa akin”

“ganun lang?”

Ramdam kong devastated sya, It’s a surprise, di man lang sya binigyan ng taning. Pero alam nyu na, pareho silang local, parehong mataas ang pride.

Tinawagan kasi sya the day before, late na, tapos na ang duty nya, pinapunta sya sa site para lang palitan yung extension wire. Nainis sya dahil on the way sila ng nanay nya for doctor’s appointment tapos ganun lang, sa maliit na pinagagawa. nagkasagutan sa phone.

“I love my work, Ayoko naman na magtrabaho sa father ko, oo mas mataas ang sweldo pero mas gusto ko dito” yun ang sabi nya sa akin.

Nag-isip-isip ako: kung wala na sya sa opis, it’s going to be chaos, wala pa syang kapalit tapos ang gulo pa ng management. I text my boss:

“Good morning, Mohammed is fired? He is one of the few person I know that’s dedicated to his work.”

text back: “Actually he’s not fired, he resigned.

Me: “I just talked to him, he said he love his job. Can we fix it? Whatever your decision is, I respect, I’m only suggesting”.

After ten minutes, pinatawag sya sa opis. Five minutes, bumalik, smiling.

“I’m hired again”.

Me nagpagawa ng exhibition booth design sa gaganaping Gitex KSA 2010 dito sa Riyadh, pinsan ng amo, meaning t.y. after 2 days of conceptualizing and design execution,  pinadala ko ang image by e-mail. Katakutakot na comments ang return mail nya, in capital letters. I returned mail, kinapslock ko din, jinustify ko yung design. Eh anu naman kasi ang alam nya, ni hindi naman sya engineer man lang. Binigyan nya ako ng hanggang 3 days. Ayun, isang linggo na, di pa sya tumatawag.

Sinayang nya ang oras ko!
